What is blind rivets?

Blind rivets also known as pop rivets, are the type of fastener specifically designed for situations where access is limited to one side of the material being joined. Unlike traditional rivets which require access to both sides for hammering to shank blind rivets can be installed and secured from just one side, making them ideal for:

  • Sheet metal assembly: joining sections of thin metal sheets in ductwork, car panels, or furniture.
  • Woodworking: Attaching hinges, handles, or decorating elements to woods.
  • Electronics: securing electrical components inside enclosures or mounting circuit boards.
  • Construction: fastening cladding materials, insulation, or lightweight panels.

Item benefits

Ease to use:

No need for specialized tools or access to both sides, making them ideal for DIY projects or tight spaces.

Versatility:

A wide range of types and sizes cater to various materials and applications.

Strength and security:

Creates a permanent, vibration-resistant bond.

Clean finish;

Requires no hammering on the final sides, leaving a smooth and aesthetically pleasing surface.

Installation process

  1. Drill a hole

Choose a drill bit slightly larger than the rivet diameter to allow for some move movement.

  1. Insert rivet

Place the rivet through the hole, with the mandrel facing outwards.

  1. Squeeze the rivet tool

A manual or pneumatic tool grips the mandrel and pulls it, causing the rivet body to expand and clamp down on the materials

  1. Break and discard the mandrel

Once the rivet is secure, the mandrel snaps at the pre-determined point and is discarded.

Applications

Construction

That is used in the construction works. In this way they are used to attach insulation sheets. Pop rivets are widely used to fasten metal or plastic panels for building exteriors, interior partitions, and roofing.

Sheet metal work

From ductwork and car panels to furniture components and enclosures, pop rivets provide strong and clean connections for various sheet metal applications. Pop rivets can strengthen weak points or seal leaky seams in sheet metal structures.

Woodworking

They are used in attaching hardware and connecting furniture parts. Pop rivets can reinforce cracked or weakened wooden parts, extending their lifespan.
