Used for

A C-clamp, or G-clamp, is a type of clamp device typically used to hold a wood or metal workpiece, and often used in, but are not limited to, carpentry and welding. G-clamp is used by means of turning the screw through the bottom of the frame until the desired state of pressure or release is reached.

Its Making:

G-clamps are typically made of steel or cast iron, though smaller clamps may be made of pot metal. At the top of the “G” is usually a small flat edge. At the bottom is a threaded hole through which a large threaded screw protrudes.

Safety:

If you’re going to use a clamp, though, you should follow these five safety tips to protect against injury.

  1.  Make Full Contact With the Pressure Plate.
  2.  Regularly Oil.
  3.  Wear Safety Goggles.
  4.  Tighten By Hand.
  5.  Avoid Over-Tightening.

G-clamp as a holding tool.

A C-clamp or G-clamp or G-cramp is a type of clamp device typically used to hold a wood or metal workpiece, and often used in, but are not limited to, carpentry and welding. G Clamps are used to hold together workpieces while gluing or to hold work firmly to a bench or machine whilst it is being worked on.

Difference between G and C-clamp.

Technically there is a difference where G-cramps (from the word Cramp Iron) are devices that use a screw mechanism to force together objects. However, they are often used interchangeably. C-clamps are usually considered very similar to Pliers, but c-clamps are physically larger and can handle larger work loads.
