This 3M safety helmet in green carries an adjustable four point ratchet suspension, designed to absorb the impact of small falling objects on the top of the head and reduce injury from walking into fixed objects on site.
Its most practically important feature is that the suspension sits low on the head, distributing pressure and reducing the weight sensation and slippage across a full shift. That is not a marketing detail. A helmet that slides or presses on the forehead gets pushed back after two hours, and a helmet pushed back protects nothing. The shell also carries accessory slots, accepting 3M cap mounted ear muffs, face shields and welding helmets directly, with no adapter.

What This Helmet Protects Against, and What It Does Not
It protects against:
- Small objects falling onto the top of the head
- Impact from walking into fixed objects such as pipes, scaffolding and low beams
- Electrical contact up to 20,000 V in the non vented version only
It does not protect against:
- Lateral impact. Type I covers blows to the top of the head. Side impact protection requires Type II, a different rating. A worker who strikes his head sideways on a beam is not protected the way he may assume.
- Electrical contact in the vented version. Class C is conductive, not insulating.
- Heavy falling objects. The helmet is designed for small objects and does not replace preventing falls from height in the first place.
- Welding radiation or spatter. Welding requires a dedicated shield mounted through the accessory slots.
