- A bleed-off resistor placed across the terminals can help release the stored charge in between uses.
Run Capacitor
In one-phase motors, a run capacitor keeps an auxiliary coil’s running torque constant while the motor is loaded. When the motor is running, these capacitors are regarded as continuous duty and will stay in the circuit even if the start capacitor fails. Run capacitors are not present in every one-phase motor.
Run capacitors often have the following advantages:
- Their capacitance ratings range from 1.5 to 100 μF on average.
- A single capacitance with a tolerance, such as 20 μF ± 6%, is usually provided for them.
- Their voltage ratings are higher, usually 240 V, 440 V, etc.
